    Born on Tuesday the 18th of Decr.
    Baptized on Thursday the 27th of Decr.
    Son of John Bennion of Barthomley, farmer, and Mary his wife.

    Barthomley is between Crewe and Kidsgrove.
    
    Married Martha Furnival August 1822.
    
    His sons John (1822) and George (1826) are born in Congleton, and his daughters Mary Ann (1830) and Hannah (1837) are born in Winsford, so I presume the family moved from Congleton to Winsford about 1828 and then to Winnington before 1841.

    Not found in later censuses, except for a Thomas Benion of about the right age living in Church Street Witton in the 1861 census. He is a widower and Ag Lab, allegedly born in Bettley, Yorkshire. I expect this is more likely to be Betley, Staffordshire, which is near Barterly, part of the parish of Barthomley, and where the Bennions originated.  (I could not find any Thomas Bennions at all in Yorkshire in earlier censuses.) However, the Ag Lab occupation does not match.  (1861 census,

    No death records found in Cheshire BMD for 1851-61 in Northwich, but there is one in Chester Castle for Thomas Benyon, Age 58 (1855  CAS/17/17). Also Thomas Bennion, Northwich (1873,  NO/23/003). FreeBMD has a death for Thomas Bennion Age 66 in Northwich in 1870. (GRO 8a 197)

    The LDS Pedigree Resource File implies that he married Elizabeth Platt on 11 Apr 1819 in Audlem, but to match the 1851 census has him marrying Mary Senior in 1851. However, Elizabeth is almost certainly the mother of a different Mary Ann Bennion in Wharton, and all the records except the 1851 census show Thomas's wife as Martha. I cannot find a Thomas Bennion/Mary Senior marriage in the BMD catalogue, or any Thomas Bennion marriage in the GRO register (1849-51).
