Henry was born in 1813.  Henry's father was John Bennion and his mother was Mary Cookson.  His paternal grandparents were Thomas Bennion and Mary Martin; his maternal grandparents were John Cookson and Rebecca Croxton. He had four brothers and a sister, named Thomas, John, Joseph, William and Rebecca.  He was the youngest of the six children.
