Catherine was born in 1828.  Catherine's father was Benjamin Senior and her mother was Sarah Holland.  Her paternal grandparents were Benjamin Senior and Sarah Webb. She had three brothers and three sisters, named Joseph, Robert, William, Mary, Sarah and Elizabeth.  She was the fifth oldest of the seven children.
