Anne was born in 1706 in Litherland, Liverpool.  Anne's father was Richard Pinnington and her mother was Elizabeth Hewson.  Her paternal grandparents were Charles Pinnington and Jane Cowper; her maternal grandparents were John Huson and Alice Whittle. She had a brother and three sisters, named Charles, Jane, Ellen and Alice.  She was the oldest of the five children.
