Joseph Pidcock

Joseph was born on 4 November 1914. Joseph's father was Richard James Pidcock and his mother was Bridget Murphy. His paternal grandparents were Joseph Pidcock and Selina Pinnington; his maternal grandparents were Martin Murphy and Sarah (Sally) Hoban. He had two brothers and five sisters, named Richard, James, Nellie, Selina, Jessie, Mary and Winifred. He died at the age of 80 in July 1995.

General Notes
- Born blind in Runcorn in 1914.
  
  He was sent away to be educated at the Blind School in Wavertree, Liverpool.
  
  He was very well known as "The Blind Pianist" in Runcorn and Widnes.
  He was the resident pianist at The Castle hotel (near Halton Castle), and also at the South Bank (near the Transporter Bridge). He was later the organist at the "Buffs" club.
  
  He was also the church organist at St Edward's Church, Runcorn.
  
  As well as playing piano and organ, he also played the accordion.
  
  He had a huge record collection (for the time) of classical music, originally on 78s. He had a copy of Handel's Messiah on about 10 discs, designed to be played on an autochanger.
  
  He was one of the first people in Runcorn to buy a tape-recorder.
  
  Lived at 7 Union Street until his marriage, then at 2 Kent Grove.
  
  He married Kathleen Sutherst (née Rushton) in 1959.
  Died in 1995. He is buried with his sister Jessie McCarthy, but has no memorial.
