    Married Ann Johnson in 1792.
    Michael and Ann were living near to Manchester Cathedral when their first son was born in 1799, and at 10 Broughton St, Salford, when their second son was born in 1807.
    
    Ann died in 1812 at the Sexton House, Christ Church, King Street, Salford, so Michael was living there by then, and he stayed until at least 1826. As he lived in the Sexton House, he might well have been the sexton of the church. If so, he might have had to bury physically his first wife and eight of his children. However, his occupation given on his daughter Mary's marriage certificate (1839) is Hatter.
    
    Married Ellen Clark in 1812.
    Although Michael and Ellen's daughter Dinah was born in Latchford, it is unlikely that Michael left Salford. It is more likely that Ellen went to live with family in Latchford while the baby was born.
    
    Christ Church Salford was the centre for the Bible Christian movement, which was based on temperance and vegetarianism. The movement was founded in 1809 by William Cowherd, and was the foundation for the Vegetarian Society in 1847. Forty church members migrated to Philadelphia in 1817, where the Bible Christian Church remained active for another century, and in Britain the Church merged with other Methodists to form the United Methodist Church in 1909.

    There is a baptism recorded for Michael Pidcock in the IGI  on 16 Oct 1768 in Taxal, Cheshire (near Whaley Bridge), but this would make him 46 when Dinah was born and 58 when Michael Jr was born. This is not so improbable as he was a widower when he married Ellen. Taxal is temptingly intermediate between Bakewell/Darley Dale, where most Pidcocks originate from, and Salford where this family lived.
