Hannah was born in 1754 and her baptism took place on 30 January 1754 at St Helen's, Witton, Northwich, Cheshire.  Hannah's father was Thomas Senior and her mother was Hannah Hunt.  Her maternal grandparents were James Hunt and <Unknown>. She had seven brothers and two sisters, named George, Thomas, Joseph, Thomas, Edward, Thomas, Benjamin, Martha and Sarah.  She was the eighth oldest of the ten children.
