Catherine was born on 20 November 1797.  Catherine's father was Benjamin Senior and her mother was Sarah Webb.  Her paternal grandparents were Thomas Senior and Hannah Hunt; her maternal grandmother was Catherine Webb. She had four brothers and three sisters, named Thomas, John, Benjamin, Samuel, Mary, Mary and Hannah.  She was the seventh oldest of the eight children.
