Martha was born in 1706 in Congleton, Cheshire and her baptism took place on 16 March 1706 at St Mary's, Astbury, Cheshire.1   Martha's father was Richard Comberbach and her mother was Martha. She had a brother and two sisters, named Richard, Mary and Ellen.  She was the oldest of the four children.
