Thomas was born in 1637 in Alcumlow and his baptism took place on 6 August 1637 at St Mary's, Astbury, Cheshire.  Thomas's father was Thomas Booth and his mother was Catherine Buckley. He had two brothers and two sisters, named Timothy, John, Joan and Ann.  He was the oldest of the five children.  He died at the age of 64 in 1701.
