Mary Cumberbach

Mary was born in 1708 in Congleton, Cheshire and her baptism took place on 9 October 1708 at St Mary's, Astbury, Cheshire.¹ Mary's father was Richard Comberbach and her mother was Martha. She had a brother and two sisters, named Richard, Martha and Ellen. She was the second oldest of the four children.

  COLLECTIONS FOR A GENEALOGICAL ACCOUNT OF THE FAMILY OF COMBERBACH by GEORGE-W MARSHALL, LL.B. LONDON : 1866. This claims that Mary is the daughter of Joseph and Mary Comberbach, though I cannot find these in the IGI, nor have I found a baptism record for Mary in the Sandbach register (and no baptism date is shown at the referenced website). Interestingly, if this Mary was the daughter of Joseph and Mary, she would have had a brother Daniel, so she would be likely to name her son after him.
  
  I have searched the Sandbach registry but found no record for Mary. So I think that she is not connected with the Sandbach Comberbaches at all. The Congleton baptism at least exists!
  
  Another baptism of 10 Oct 1725 in Astbury that I have found in the IGI (not the one above) is unlikely to be correct as that would make Mary aged 16 when Sarah was born.
