Sarah was born on 16 December 1810.  Sarah's father was Thomas Pimlott and her mother was Nancy Rowlinson.  Her paternal grandparents were George Pimlott and Sarah Davies; her maternal grandparents were John Rowlinson and Esther. She had three brothers and two sisters, named George, John, George, Elizabeth and Helen.  She was the second oldest of the six children.
