George was born in 1759 and his baptism took place on 2 December 1759 at St James, Taxal, Cheshire.  George's father was George Pidcock and his mother was Elizabeth Noton.  His paternal grandparents were Samuel Pidcock and Sarah; his maternal grandparents were Michael Noton and Martha Maxfield. He had two brothers and three sisters, named Michael, Michael, Mary, Elizabeth and Sarah.  He was the third oldest of the six children.
