Hannah was born in January 1817 and her baptism took place on 19 January 1817 at St Helen's, Witton, Northwich, Cheshire.  Hannah's father was John Robinson and her mother was Jane Oaks.  Her paternal grandparents were Isaac Robinson and Nancy; her maternal grandparents were John Oaks and Jane Oaks. She had two brothers and two sisters, named John, George, Ann and Martha.  She was the third oldest of the five children.
