General Notes
- Living at 54 Cholmondley Street Widnes in 1901 with his wife Emma and 6 children James 17; Thomas 12; William 10; John 8; Ada 6; and Daniel 2
  In 1881 he and Emma had a 15 year old 'son' staying with them call Joseph Henry Bate. I guessed he was Emma's natural son and as she came from Runcorn, found Joseph aged 5 and Alfred Bate 4 living with their grandmother, Martha Bate, a grocer in Lowlands Road Runcorn in 1871. In 1861 she was in Top Lane, Penketh wife of Joseph, an undertaker from Cadishead (near Eccles) Lancashire, she was from Croft in Lancs. I haven't found if Emma was their daughter or daughter in law, yet!
