General Notes
- Born Northampton about 1848, according to the 1881 Census, but he cannot be found in earlier or later censuses.
  
  Boarder with Charlotte at 31 Station Street, Monks Coppenhall. Railway stoker, Age 33. (1881 Census, RG11/3453/71/P32, Sch 190).
  
  As I cannot find John H Vernon elsewhere, and his surname is just recorded as a "ditto" following Charles Vernon, I'm inclined to think that he may actually have had a different name, and the "ditto" was a transcription error. It does seem unlikely that a boarder from another county would have an identical surname.
